About Spaaan

Researching ADHD Experiences in Women. Spaaan is an early-stage venture dedicated to advancing educational research on ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) experiences, with a particular focus on women who are often underrepresented in studies and face distinctive challenges. As we grow, we aim to broaden this lens to include a wider range of experiences. Why focus on women with ADHD? Research shows that ADHD often presents differently and more subtly in women compared to men (Young et al., 2020 and 2024). Symptoms are typically more internalized, such as inattention and emotional dysregulation, and may go unnoticed. Hormonal changes can also influence how symptoms appear. These differences often lead to delayed recognition, affecting daily life and well-being. Our approach Born from recognizing limitations in current assessment processes and management, and combining extensive tech and human-centered design expertise, Spaaan explores how digital innovation can contribute to supporting ADHD understanding in daily life by: • Community education → Developing educational tools and resources to raise awareness about current findings and help women recognize their unique experiences and strengths. • Applied research → Collaborating with researchers and clinicians to translate evidence-based insights into practical, human-centered concepts, while exploring new ways to advance ADHD and behavioral health understanding.
