About Space Workforce Incubator for Texas (SWIFT)
As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, SWIFT quarterbacks Texas’ space workforce training ecosystem—connecting high schools, community colleges, universities, and industry to eliminate duplication, maximize resources, and unleash untapped talent. At SWIFT, we don’t just build rockets; we build connections. The booming commercial space market is fueling unprecedented demand for a skilled workforce to fill a variety of high-paying jobs throughout Texas. Great progress has been made to inspire young Texans through STEM pathways and engaging rocketry courses, while universities like UT and TAMU are leading the way with advanced engineering programs. Yet, there remains a critical gap in accessible aerospace workforce training programs at the community college level. SWIFT is bridging that gap, creating multiple entry points for Texans of all backgrounds. By scaffolding skills and upskilling workers from other industries, we’re ensuring more people can take part in the thriving space economy. SWIFT unites rocket designers and builders, fostering seamless collaboration across educational and technical programs. Through shared testing platforms and hands-on experience in liquid rocket hardware, we give students the opportunity to dream, build, and launch. SWIFT: Build. Test. Fly. By emphasizing hands-on design, fabrication, and testing of liquid rocket hardware, we ensure that graduates possess practical skills that meet the immediate needs of the defense and aerospace sectors. We then streamline the process for organizations to access and onboard these exceptionally qualified individuals.
