OUR MISSION “Aspirational urban design for a sustainable future.” WHO WE ARE SPACELAB is a team of diversely skilled design professionals, qualified across a wide range of disciplines and technical skills. Our light filled studio in Turner enjoys a leafy urban outlook here in the centre of Canberra. SPACELAB’s interactive environment nurtures the energy and enthusiasm of our entire project team of urban designers, statutory and feasibility planners, landscape architects and conceptual artists to push boundaries and challenge the norm in the pursuit of exemplary outcomes for our clients and the future residents of the spaces and places we create. We uncover and realise a site’s potential working around and through planning and legislative obstacles to deliver high quality projects. In our pursuit of design lead development, we challenge ingrained process and conflict between policy areas to find workable pathways to benefit the people who will live there. Our foundation of experience spans decades. Our focus is on the future. WHY WE DO IT SPACELAB pursues leading edge design outcomes, challenging policy, and process because advocating for a better design is aspirational and purposeful. Our experience has shown that investing in high quality design is not just good practice. Our analysis of past projects has shown that the most profitable outcome is also very likely the best design outcome, because great design intrinsically is the most desirable and most valuable outcome. Our passion and energy are reflected within the design of new communities that form the structure for development that houses many thousands of people. We create timeless places of varying scale for the benefit of people seeking a peaceful place or a place to gather. We love to work collaboratively with forward thinking clients and their consultant teams of architects, engineers and specialist consultants to design and realise every project we participate in.
