Research has proven that there is a strong correlation between our emotional state and the physical environment. We are passionate about providing beautiful, therapeutic, trauma-informed spaces to charities and organisations that support survivors of violence, so that they can be supported in their healing journey. When a women has flees a home that they created and enters a refuge, or when they leave their safe space to work through their trauma in a counselling room, they deserve to be welcomed into a space that has considered their every need. We want every space that we create to say "Come in. Welcome. You've been thought about". Ellie, founder of Spacious Place, is a registered nurse, qualified Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) and interior design lover. "For me, if my surroundings are inviting and comfortable, I immediately feel a sense of ease. I have sat in rooms with women who have experienced violence, and what always struck me was that they were expected to relive their most traumatic moments in rooms that were cold, where the walls were stark, the seats creaked if you moved, and the lights flickered overhead. I couldn't help but think that there must be a better way to support these brave women to enter into vulnerable conversations. Some might say, "at least they're safe". We say, "why can't they have both?" Safety and beauty." So thats why we exist. We want to provide an accessible service to the organisations supporting these women, so that they can continue to provide much needed support, in beautiful, therapeutic, trauma-informed spaces.
