Across so-called Australia, young people are navigating multiple crises—yet their voices are ignored, their potential underestimated, and their leadership dismissed. But history tells a different story. From the anti-war protests to the global climate strikes, high school students have been at the forefront of transformative movements. In the past five years, we’ve seen high school student activism surge on issues like climate justice, racial justice, and workers' rights. However, a critical gap remains: there are few structures in place to support, upskill, and build high school students capacity in grassroots organising. That’s where Spark Youth Hub comes in. We are building the first dedicated space to provide high school students with the training, resources, and networks to organise effectively and lead change in their communities. Through co-designed programs, an online resource and training hub, and direct connections to youth-led movements, we’re ensuring that high schoolers not only take action to organise for change —but also have the long-term support to sustain it.
