About Special Kids Chattanooga
In 1998, motivated by the love of Jesus Christ, Carrie Goodwin, and her father, Dick Kleinau, founded Special Kids. Discouraged by observing the harsh realities that the families of children with special needs face, Dick and Carrie envisioned a place where all families and their children in need of our services would be welcomed with Christian love and healing arms. Her father, who himself had a grandson with special needs, captured Carrie's vision. Working alongside her father and with the financial support of the Christy Houston Foundation, Special Kids opened in Murfreesboro September of 1998. At Special Kids Chattanooga, we believe every child who needs therapy should be able to get it. That is why we provide physical, occupational, speech, and feeding therapy to help children with special healthcare needs grow strong and reach their goals. We partner with doctors, schools, and local groups to support families every step of the way. Our care is easy to access, affordable, and built around each child’s unique needs. By helping kids early and teaching the community about their challenges, we’re building a place where every child has the chance to thrive.
