About Special Steels

Originally established as one of the UK’s leading independent subcontract heat treatment companies, Special Steels has diversified into distributing alloy bar stock to complement its heat treatment services. Utilising its vast array of furnaces, capable of treating a few kilos to 25 tonnes, Special Steels partners with global steel mills to access rolled and forged round bar and then performs further heat treatment, mechanical & metallurgical testing, machining and NDE, all within its own facilities in Sheffield England. Special Steels operates both gas and electric furnaces, with either oil, water or polymer quench capabilities and works daily to API & AMS standards. It is certified to both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, but is also proud to be awarded ‘merit status’ on the Nadcap Accreditation programme for Heat Treating and Aerospace Quality Systems.
