About Speciality Fibres and Materials
SFM has a well-established know-how in manufacturing advanced gelling fibres, as well as x-ray detectable yarns. A global B2B manufacturing partner for advanced wound care industry. The SFM laboratories are well-equipped and offer a controlled environment, which allows our exceptional R&D team to discover new wound care technologies. We also have pilot scale facilities for the production of R&D samples, or bio-compatibility and stability studies. Our products are manufactured in ISO certified clean rooms in line with the highest standards of care by highly skilled and experienced workers. Safety, Quality and Efficiency are integral in everything we do. Our product offering includes 5 types of technologies - nanotechnology, modified cellulose, reinforced alginates, alginates and X-ray detectable yarn. SFM have developed proprietary technology to produce cellulose fibres enhanced with silver nanoparticles which are highly absorbent, but retain moisture to promote healing, and have a sustained bactericidal activity. Modified cellulose fibres are highly efficient as they are capable of absorbing large amounts of fluids whilst keeping the area moist, which is crucial in the management of chronic wounds. SFM uses special techniques to enhance the functionality of these fibres providing improved fabric integrity. Alginates are products manufactured from sodium alginate extracted from seaweed and SFM has developed a method to allow for faster gelling rates and lower risks of residue presence. There is also an antibacterial option containing Silver (+Ag) which allows for the effective inhibition of bacterial growth. Our vision is to successfully deliver innovative, cost effective and quality products and solutions into the advanced wound care industry with an ultimate aim of improving patient care and wellbeing.
