“It is not birth, marriage, or death, but gastrulation, which is truly the most important time in your life.” Lewis Wolpert (1986) The ability to generate large numbers of one or more lineage-specific cell types from human pluripotent cells ultimately requires the ability to directly and consistently control, in a step-wise manner, how these cells respond to molecular cues provided by their local environment. Following years of investigation into gastrulation and differentiation events as they occur in the embryo, SPECIALIZED STEM CELLS, LLC (“SSC”) has successfully applied this knowledge to develop perhaps the most robust human stem cell-based differentiation schemes in the industry which enable the production of a limitless supply of mesoderm-derived cell types including beating cardiomyocytes, endothelium and derivatives such as capillary-forming endothelial and smooth muscle cells. SSC is actively seeking licensing partnerships with end users worldwide who can tailor its proprietary technologies to fit a broad range of pharmaceutical, academic and regenerative applications (as protected by US11/876,769; US13/215,198; US13/215,202; US11/159,567; US08/80657; AU2008316945; EU08841852; and CAN2741403) .
