About Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation

The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation was founded on June 18, 1991 as the Prince George Regional Hospital (PGRH) Foundation. It was established pursuant to the Province of British Columbia "Society Act" and it has operated under the direction of its own Board of Directors from offices within the University Hospital of Northern BC, Prince George. The Foundation works in cooperation with the Northern Health Authority and focuses on the area served by our regional hospital. The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation was created to provide people meaningful opportunities to contribute to improving healthcare within the service area of the University Hospital of Northern BC, Prince George (UHNBC). The community has responded in a very generous way. In the 20 years since the Foundation was created, more than $27 million has been contributed towards capital equipment and improvements, and support of education of healthcare workers and medical staff.
