About Spirit Of Youth

Spirit of Youth is dedicated to creating, promoting and recognizing youth involvement in communities across Alaska. Spirit of Youth began in 1997 as a media-based project to address a growing negative image of teenagers. Since then, hundreds of positive stories about Alaska youth have spread through television, radio and local and statewide newspapers. Nominations are made by anyone who wishes to recognize a hard-working, inspiring teenager or youth group in one of eight award categories. Spirit of Youth is governed by a board of directors and a teen advisory council.
