Samanea Consultancy Pvt. Ltd, founded in 2021 and trading as “Sponge Collaborative”, is a consulting, design, and planning firm based in Chennai, Bengaluru (India) and Lyon (France) specialising in the design and implementation of nature-based solutions. We are an interdisciplinary team of landscape architects, urban designers, planners, geospatial analysts, and strategic thinkers. We collaborate with ecologists, engineers, and social scientists to design open spaces, infrastructure systems, water management regimes, and land development strategies that are resilient to climate change. Sponge Collaborative adopts a systems approach that centers ecology and community in the design of integrated blue-green infrastructure, sustainable mobility, inclusive housing, vibrant public spaces, and resilient cities. Sponge Collaborative has led the planning, design, and documentation of one of India’s first climate park, largest sponge city park, and supporting the effort to mainstream NbS in the mountainous areas of six Central Asian countries. We proactively work with public sector, multilateral, private sector, and institutional groups - many of whom have been recurring clients - and collaborate with academic partners for capacity building.
