About St Nicks

St Nicks is the green heart of York, a nature reserve and environment centre promoting sustainable living. We started by transforming a former landfill site into a thriving local nature reserve, which we continue to manage with the help of hundreds of volunteers. From our base at York Environment Centre we run projects and services which help to build a sustainable future for residents. These include a low emissions domestic kerbside recycling collection, an environmental education programme, corporate volunteering days and a programme of monthly community events. We now operate a low-emissions business recycling collection service catering for small to medium-sized organisations in York. Get in touch if you think you could benefit from this service!
