About Starfish Assignment

Starfish Assignment is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charity devoted to strengthening the bonds between law enforcement and the community. Our focus lies in supporting officers as they address the needs of the communities they serve, while encouraging positive interactions and partnerships between law enforcement officers and community members. We strive to bridge the gap between the community and the police through various activities, such as our Books & Badges program. In this initiative, officers read to elementary school-age children, and each child receives a copy of the book to keep. The students ask the officers questions about law enforcement, such as what items are on their duty belts an what they like best about their jobs. In turn, the officers use the time to talk to the kids about good choices. These events are a huge hit with the cops and kids alike. "I got my book autographed by a police officer," one girl exclaimed. "Yay!!" Starfish is fully supported by donations from individuals and businesses. We do not receive funding from law enforcement agencies, and we do not have any paid employees. As a non-partisan organization, we welcome all individuals who share our commitment to helping others and making a positive impact in our communities.
