About Starmark Investment Management Limited
Starmark was established in 1998. In 2005, Starmark Investment Management Limited (SIML) received authorisation from the FSA, now the FCA, to engage in investment management business. In recent years, SIML has focused on providing regulatory umbrella services for advising and arranging financial transactions via the Appointed Representative (AR) route and for aspiring fund managers who wish to manage/trade client money by way of a fund or managed account structure under the Senior Management and Certification Regime (SM&CR). The AR route involves registering the prospective AR firm and associated individuals with the FCA. Prospective fund managers are certified by SIML for Client Dealing under SM&CR. We know that regulatory costs can be a big issue for start-up operations which may expect to have only a few million to manage in the early days. We offer a competitive pricing arrangement to reduce the pain by strictly controlling our own costs and avoiding trying to be all things to all people, unlike the larger umbrella companies which mostly cover the whole range of clients including retail, involving higher operating costs and regulatory risks. We avoid retail and deal only with professional clients as the regulation costs when dealing with retail are much higher than dealing with professionals. We are happy to deal with whichever administrator a fund manager prefers. We have established a close relationship with Ifina, www.ifina.com a global fund administration company. Ifina also focuses on the smaller professional start-up funds offering competitive pricing and the full range of admin services across many jurisdictions. We act as IM for several funds administered by Ifina in Cayman. SIML’s activities are shown on the FCA Register, ref:190249. We deal only with professional clients and eligible counterparties as defined in COBS 3.5 and 3.6 and cannot hold client funds.
