About STC-SA Durban Campus

STC-SA DURBAN CAMPUS STC-SA, previously known as Grindrod Shipping Training Academy, previously known as Unicorn Training Academy, was established in 1975 to provide training for its own crew on board the Unicorn Shipping fleet. Based in Fletcher Road at the time, the academy grew in the courses offered and was soon offering SAMSA accredited STCW training resulting in the training offering being opened to South African seafarers from other shipping lines. In 2015, the academy moved to larger, purpose-built premises in Hannah Road. The new facility was equipped with the ‘Helicopter Underwater Escape Training’ simulator that enabled the pursuing of approval for the delivery of OPITO courses. It is with immense pride that STC-SA has seen many seafarers progress from cadets to officers, engineers and masters. We are continually striving to add further value to our clients and ensure that we keep abreast with the latest trends and legislative requirements. We do not compromise on safety. Safety First.
