Steele Foundation, LLC (formerly Steele Foundations, Inc.) is a locally owned and operated, design-build foundation contractor specializing in engineered foundation construction. Founded in 1968 as Steele and Moroney, Inc., the company has successfully completed nearly 1400 projects, primarily in the Washington-Baltimore metropolitan area. Among the nearly 1400 projects the company has completed are many downtown office buildings, government buildings including The White House, National Gallery of Art, U.S. Capitol Building, U.S. Supreme Court, Reagan National and Dulles Airports, churches, hospitals, embassies, and universities. The company has also performed work for major corporations such as Pepco, Bell Atlantic and Giant Food. While Steele Foundations’ specialty is excavation sheeting and underpinning, it also designs and constructs shoring systems for facade preservation and structural modifications such as moving or strengthening columns and foundations. Additionally, Steele Foundation installs micropiles, soil nails, timber bearing piles, and steel bearing piles. Steele Foundation, LLC is operated by Ronald W. Steele and J. Andrew Steele. Both officers are active in the daily operation of the company and maintain active membership in industry associations. Steele Foundations’ union work force is composed of many long-time employees. Besides the officers, the company employs two staff engineers, an accountant, and 30 to 50 piledrivers and laborers.
