About STEM To Flower

STEM to Flower is a youth-led (middle to high schoolers) 501(c)(3) non-profit combating gender inequality in the STEM fields. We meet with 3rd-7th grade girls in underprivileged school districts in Long Island, New York, and teach STEM-related activities from our specifically tailored kits. STEM to Flower aims to bring STEM outside our community and reach children with fewer opportunities for interest exploration. Because gender stereotypes and divides form from as early as four years old, we cater to elementary and middle schoolers to disprove those stereotypes and give children a broader spectrum of interests from a young age. This allows an extended period to develop and enhance their passions as well as expand their career choices. Overall, the program's objective is to light a spark in children's minds that could lead to a long-lasting interest in STEM that may even overlap with their future occupation. Goals: Implement both hands-on and presentation-based lessons and activities. Establish a foundation to support young women in advancing their STEM passions. Spread awareness to the general public on the underrepresentation of STEM women and gender inequality. Inspire and aid girls in finding a potential STEM career path.
