With the backing of Christian Salveson, the Alexander family and a Scottish bank, his father set up Transfleet which was one of the first contract truck hire companies in the UK. Following the company’s sale to Lex Stewart Duff then launched Charthire, for which Andy worked. Andy decided to start Sterling Trucks in 1999 based on the realisation that there was a need for a family controlled company that would provide specialised transport solutions for business use. Over the years the company has grown organically, from a handful of contracts to over 150 vehicles on the road. The basis of our success is customer satisfaction and flexibility.
