Stirred Up is a non-profit, organization working with adolescent boys and girls from underprivileged backgrounds in inner-city Atlanta. Through the personal involvement of the staff of Stirred Up, these adolescents receive a foundation of hope through God's family life, educational assistance to help rescue them from the corruption of their environment and mentoring in the development of a God-centered relationship through sports or other areas where they can excel. We see lives transformed as we bring hope to these children who lack opportunities to reach beyond their circumstances. Within each and every child is one primary need—to be loved. Inner-city youth so desperately needs to be loved. They will never develop a sense of self-worth, will never explore the possibilities that the future might hold for them unless they know that someone loves and supports them. The forces threatening to extinguish the flames of hope in these young lives include single parent households, lack of healthy male role models, poverty, teenage and out-of-wedlock pregnancies, alcohol and drug use and high drop-out rates within the school system. With the odds stacked against them, they have little reason to look to the future with much hope. Stirred Up mission is to walk with these youth and to show them they are loved, they are worthy and have a reason to hope for the future.
