HERITAGE IN MANUFACTURING. Despite being a relatively new name in the industry, Stock Excavators is far from your normal start-up. A true family-run business, with sons Tom and Mitch leading the charge, Stock Group (which includes Stock Sweepers, Stock Excavators, Stock Re-Manufacturing & Stock Rentals) employs a total of 85 people, with 65 manufacturing staff including 17 welder fabricators. It also has its own shot-blasting, powder-coating and wet painting facilities at its site in Cinderford, near Gloucester. The Group has been manufacturing new sweepers since 2009, and in February 2021, delivered its first suction excavator. However, before diving feet first into manufacturing our own brand of suction excavator, we needed to make sure we had done our homework. Utilising our manufacturing, refurbishment & hire experience within the Group, we fully refurbished two competitors’ machines and ran a fleet of 5 hire machines for 3 years. Carrying out all of the maintenance, stripping down the vehicles and remounting them taught us everything we needed to know about how suction excavators are built & more importantly why they stop working. From there, our manufacturing business was born. The intimate knowledge acquired during the refurbishment & hire period meant that we had already begun identifying the various flaws in the competitors’ machines. This meant that when we came to building our own machine it was immediately superior, being easier to maintain and built to last longer.
