About STORM Family Centre

S.T.O.R.M, Support, Trust, Opportuntity, Rebuilding and Motivation was established in 2004 with one simple aim – to help single mothers who needed support. We particularly focus on members of the local population within the Black Ethnic Minority, and hard-to-engage groups. STORM is committed to addressing social issues such as poverty, long-term unemployment, and youth crime. STORM plays a unique role in the Battersea community. Storm’s offering of a wide range of support including education, social events, refuge and work opportunities is not provided by any other organisation in the Borough. Over the years STORM has grown rapidly and now serves a vital role for Wandsworth and its neighbouring boroughs. Based on the Doddington & Rollo estate in North Battersea, STORM opens its doors to people from throughout the area including the more recently established communities such as the Somali. STORM works to help:- • Abused women and single mothers gain the confidence and support they need to find their way in to the work force • People who have been dependent on benefits for many years, to access the education and support necessary to get back to work • Young people – steering them away from knife and gun crime - giving them the opportunity and motivation to change their lives. • Create community cohesion STORM is committed to providing the support all of these members of our community need so they can reach their full potential.
