Stradisphere specializes in the curation of contemporary classical music culture in South Africa through film scores, commercial recordings highlighting the most important and prominent composers, artists and works in the country, and through publications and global awareness of South Africa's artistic and cultural movements. It is an aesthetic formed through the disparate and multifaceted cultures that narrate the identity of South Africa in general; Both inherited traditions of the European concert hall, and the ethos and grandeur of an ancient folk mythology, South African composers and artists have imagined worlds full of myth, magic, and social commentary; musical textures that are at once primordial and natural, and at other point devilishly virtuosic and complex in its harmonic language. It is music that is unlike anything else represented in the classical culture, and yet so readily familiar and inviting to international audiences. Stradisphere is committed to securing opportunities for South Africa's artists to engage with wide audiences, collaborate with disciplines and in multifarious mediums, and to promote South African arts and culture as a competing and important art form within the internationally accepted canon of arts and culture. Stradisphere is co-founded by an American composer, and a veteran production specialist working in the South African film industry for 30+ years. Stradisphere's network thus spans and marries these two continents.
