Straight Line Motorsports LLC, based in Columbia, South Carolina, is more than just a racing team—it’s a movement dedicated to raising awareness and reducing the stigma around first responder mental health. Our 275" dragster is both a competitive machine and a rolling memorial. Its graphics are designed to capture the attention of first responders and honor those we’ve lost. Our racecar carries nearly 9,000 dates, each symbolizing the loss of an officer in the line of duty or to suicide nationwide since 1990. To date, it remains the only known memorial where these sacrifices are recognized side by side. While racing fuels our passion, our greater mission is to spark informal but essential conversations about mental health and wellness in the first responder community. We share resources to help first responders and their families recognize the signs of trauma, suicidal ideation, and Post-Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI), while also promoting awareness of safety trends. The need is urgent: for several years, the number of reported law enforcement suicides has outpaced line of duty deaths. And behind every suicide are thousands more silently struggling with the weight of post-traumatic stress. Our belief is simple yet profound: healthy first responders make better decisions, and healthy agencies build stronger, safer communities.
