About Streets Forward

Streets Forward is making it safer and faster to walk, bike, and take public transit in San Francisco. We're making this impact by organizing the grassroots movement of people who support safe streets and sustainable transportation, doing public policy research and data analysis, and advocating for infrastructure improvements and policies that help people shift trips to walking, biking, and public transportation. Streets Forward's Founder and Executive Director, Luke Bornheimer, has a proven track record of organizing grassroots movements and advocating for transformative policies and infrastructure improvements like Car-Free JFK Promenade in Golden Gate Park, Sunset Dunes (formerly known as Great Highway Park), and curbside protected bike lanes on Valencia Street among other accomplishments. Streets Forward is building on this work with a vision for a San Francisco where anyone—kids, families, seniors, people with disabilities—can walk, bike, and take public transit safely and quickly for everyday transportation and the city is transformed into one that is economically vibrant and efficient with high quality of life, public health, and inclusive streets and public spaces.
