About Stretch Glass Society

STRETCH GLASS SOCIETY is a virtual not for profit charity (501c3) with a mission to promote and preserve American Iridescent Stretch Glass, a unique type of glass made by 9 glass companies between 1912 and the mid-1930s and later by Fenton Art Glass Company between 1980 and 2011. The unique characteristics of stretch glass include an iridescent finish and the 'stretch affect' which refers to the separations of the iridescence on the glass which resulted from re-heating and re-shaping the glass while it was hot. Hundreds of shapes including bowls, pitchers, mugs, tumblers, candleholders, candy jars, vases, plates and many speciality-use items were created in over 50 colors during the over 50 years of production.
