STRIDE stands for Strengthening Treatments with Research Integrating Diet and Exercise. We know that nutrition and movement are powerful tools in preventing cancer and improving treatment outcomes and well-being. Founded in 2025 by Dr. Jimmy Bagley-a scientist, professor, and cancer survivor-the STRIDE Cancer Foundation is dedicated to advancing research in oncology, exercise, and nutrition. With decades of expertise in skeletal muscle physiology and human health, Dr. Bagley experienced firsthand the transformative benefits of exercise during his own cancer journey. What sets us apart? STRIDE is the only foundation that directly funds and supports students researching oncology through the lens of exercise and nutrition. By empowering the next generation of scientists, we aim to drive groundbreaking discoveries that explore how movement and diet can enhance treatment, recovery, and remission. Mission We fund undergraduate and graduate student researchers investigating how nutrition and exercise can reduce cancer risk, enhance treatment effectiveness, and support recovery and long-term well-being Vision We recognize the power of standard cancer treatments like chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery-but we also understand that lifestyle factors like diet and exercise can influence their effectiveness. By funding emerging researchers, STRIDE is paving the way for the next generation of scientists and clinicians dedicated to integrating movement and nutrition into cancer care.
