We bring together string quartets from different backgrounds from all over the world to create a dynamic, innovative program and a rich kaleidoscope of string quartet in our time. We commission, produce and present. From the early Haydn to world premières by today's most renown composers; from the timeless late Beethoven quartets to long forgotten hidden gems. Every two years, for eight days, the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam is the worldwide hotspot for string quartets, composers, guest artists, string quartet devotees and curious listeners. In over 60 concerts, performances, lectures, masterclasses and talks, the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam celebrates the string quartet and its immense source of beauty and diversity.
