Our philosophy on why we build CO2-neutral: 40% of all CO² emissions are caused by the construction and subsequent heating of buildings. All efforts to save energy are eaten up by rebound effects. What modern buildings save in heating energy, they already consume during construction. Only with sustainable building materials can we actually reduce these emissions. The production energy for buildings made of wood, straw and clay shrinks by 80 to 90 %. In addition, renewable raw materials bind carbon, which the plant removes from the atmosphere in the form of CO² as it grows. For every tonne of straw that is used, the atmosphere is relieved by two tons of CO². Buildings can be constructed that store just as much CO² as is released by conventional construction methods. A consistent changeover would save 20% more CO² than electromobility.
