Welcome to Structural Solutions, a consulting structural engineering firm specializing in the design and analysis of commercial, governmental and institutional buildings. We provide a wide range of forensic engineering, consulting engineering and design services for both public and private sector clients. We continue to serve the Washington and Baltimore metropolitan areas for over 32 years. Structural Solutions performs engineering investigations and analysis services for clients whose buildings are exhibiting signs of distress and perform structural evaluations to resolve structural concerns. We analyze structures for proposed change of use, where services typically include assessments of the as-built conditions, in conjunction with structural analyses, to accurately evaluate the capacity of structural elements for the proposed new usage of the building. Often, forensic engineering work leads to the need for solutions, and Structural Solutions excels at providing cost-effective solutions to address concerns with our clients’ buildings. For design of repairs, we seek solutions that combine durability and ease of construction. For new design, our involvement typically provides the biggest return at the start of the conceptual design phase. This is when early decisions that may affect the cost of the structure can still be made. Like all firms, we prepare Design Documents to address our clients’ needs, but we make sure to monitor the progress of the construction from the foundation to the super-structure of the building, to verify that the contractor has understood and followed our design intent.
