About Student Biotechnology Network
The Student Biotechnology Network's mission is to Inspire students to be the next innovative leaders in biotechnology through education about career opportunities and connection with today’s industry leaders. The SBN exists to drive the growth of the biotech industry by connecting talented students with industry professionals through networking events and mentorship programs. Founded in 2001, the SBN’s key role is to create mutually beneficial links between members, sponsors and mentors. Student members learn about potential career paths, develop the skills they need to be successful outside of school, and build relationships with potential employers. Sponsors and mentors leverage SBN to identify, connect and inspire potential employees, which maximizes their organizations’ future talent pool. SBN’s workshops and events take place throughout the school year, including the SBN Career Expo & Conference, which is the largest biotech career fair in Western Canada. SBN is a student-run, non-profit organization that receives guidance and support from its Board of Directors, which includes local leaders from the biotech industry.
