About Student Run Manufacturing Enterprise
Student Run Manufacturing Enterprise (SRME) was created to expand a proven career-readiness model where students run all aspects of a manufacturing enterprise – making real parts for real companies and adding value to the regional supply chain – from within their own high school. In a student run manufacturing enterprise, students in a variety of study tracks work together to create and run their own business. They are directly exposed to a variety of roles and skills in manufacturing career pathways, including business/marketing, design/engineering, and manufacturing/machining. Students proudly build and promote their enterprise’s identity, brand, and team culture while being part of something bigger and belonging to a network of SRME’s. Students are connected to local industry partners and build relationships leading to careers, apprenticeships, and higher education opportunities in advanced manufacturing. SRME is fully owned by the Northwest Industrial Resource Center, (NWIRC), (https://nwirc.org) a non-profit entity in Northwest Pennsylvania with a mission of supporting American manufacturing.
