About Students for Humanity Bocconi

Mission Our initiative rises from the desire and the necessity of convergence between the university education and causes for reflection that enables students to learn respect and dignity, equality and solidarity. We propose voluntary work not only as a vehicle to support people with social and economic issues, but also to become conscious of the surrounding world, as a opportunity to be taught valuable teachings from neighbour. We do believe in vigilant and proactive citizenry, dedicated to local problems and with a sharp outlook on international background. Students for Humanity was founded in the 2011 by a group of students with the willingness to promote social responsibility and solidarity values within the university environment. The association represents a platform which gathers social initiatives developed and run at Università Bocconi. SforH arranges social events, fund raisings and social awareness campaigns in order that the university life can be experienced by responsible and sensitive citizens. Simultaneously to the activity on the environment of Milano, SforH supports several projects in emerging countries, managed independently and in collaboration with other NGOs. Sforh directly promotes the proactive voluntary activities among students through a bearing voluntary desk, co-managed with CIESSEVI and with Bocconi Social Engagement, where the student is assisted not only with expert advices but also with the direct evidence of peers with experiences in voluntarism. “My dream is to see disappearing the voluntary work. It certainly originate something really important and admirable, but it cannot represent an exception or the sporadic virtue of some individuals: everyone should persevere in this activity. Nobody can think of itself as a real citizen without looking around and begin to solve little issues that raise in everyday life” (L.Ciotti)
