About Studio Grieveson

Studio Grieveson is a RIBA Chartered Architecture Practice with a passion for truly sustainable, low-energy architecture. Working from our studio in East London, our projects span cultural, community, residential and commercial buildings at all scales. We enjoy the challenge of creating tailored designs for ambitious clients with equal enthusiasm for design and sustainability. We acknowledge that buildings and construction are responsible for almost 40% of global carbon emissions and that as architects we have an obligation to reduce our impact as much as possible. Minimising the embodied energy of materials, maximising the performance of our buildings in use, and prioritising retrofit and re-use of existing buildings wherever possible, are central to our work. We are proud signatories of Architects’ Declare, participants of Architects Climate Action Network and committed to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge. The studio prioritises research as part of our design process and takes a fabric-first approach that combines the use of natural, low-carbon and local materials with cutting-edge technologies. Our process is collaborative, the result of an in-depth creative dialogue with our clients, collaborators, and the wider community. The studio balances a personal and hands-on approach with an ethos of efficiency and technical expertise. We design and build a number of our projects, giving us a fundamental understanding of their technical, financial, and practical realities.
