Sue Wickison is and Award winning scientific illustration, specialising in botanical watercolour illustration. The 2024 exhibition "Plants of the Qur'an" is currently showing at Cartwright Hall Gallery, Bradford, UK, through to September 2024. Plants of the Qur'an has been awarded the 2024 Award of Excellence in Botanical Art and Illustration at the Council on Botanical and Horticultural Libraries (CBHL) Annual Literature Award. The Award is given to to work that makes a significant contribution to the literature of botany or horticulture. The 2023 recipient of the Jill Smythies Award from the Linnean Society, as well as being awarded a gold medal by the Royal Horticultural Society UK for illustrations of Arisaemas. Sue has been awarded two Joyce Cumming Awards and two Certificates of Botanical Merit for work exhibited with the Society of Botanical Artists (SBA) in UK. Sue has exhibited in UK, Germany, New Zealand and Australia, her work is in the collections of the following: • Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, • Hunt Institute USA, • Dr Shirley Sherwood Collection, • Isaac Sutton Collection, • Sydney Florilegium, • Flora of Australia, • New Zealand Plant Conservation Network, • Auckland Museum, New Zealand, • Private Collections in UK, Germany, Bahrain, UAE, Australia and New Zealand. Sue Wickison and her family have now settled on Waiheke Island, New Zealand where Sue works as a freelance botanical artist working on both the intriguing native flora and also plants of international interest.
