Sumitomo Forestry America, Inc. is the holding company of Sumitomo Forestry's affiliates in the US. In addition to its function as a holding company, the Dallas office sells timber and building materials, while the Los Angeles branch sells landscape materials. Additionally, SFA MF Holdings, LLC manages multi-family housing developments as a holding company for real estate businesses. Since 2003, Sumitomo Forestry has been selling houses in Seattle, Washington, the location of one of its distribution bases for timber and building materials. The company has established a foothold into the world’s biggest housing market. Following this, we have been providing high-quality wooden housing through the acquisition of equity interests of leading local builders, while making sure to consider local culture, climate, and construction methods that are unique to the U.S. In 2016, we started the multi-family housing business, and we expanded our businesses further in 2018 through the acquisition of equity interests from a land development company and a real estate company which was focused on the development of multi-family housing, as well as commercial and mixed-use complexes. Through the expansion, not only in the single-family homes section, but also in a wider range of other business sectors, we have both consolidated and diversified our sources of revenue in the U.S. We strive for an effective yet potent synergy between Sumitomo Forestry and its affiliated companies. This is done through the gathering and bolstering of the strengths of all our groups, which is based on a relationship of trust through the sharing of business policies and philosophies with management teams of each group company. Simultaneously, appropriate living environments within communities are provided in order to meet the local needs of each area; with the aim of further expanding and developing our businesses in the future.
