Julie Spaniel, DDS Dr. Julie Spaniel graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1991. After her residency at the VA Medical Center and group private practice in Portland, Oregon she moved with her family to the Burlington area. A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Julie and her family were looking for the quality of life that Vermont offers. Dr Spaniel owned and operated a large family dental practice in South Burlington, Vermont for 25 years. She has now moved to Portland Oregon to open Summerwood Family Dental in the Bridgeport area of Tigard, Oregon. Dr. Spaniel is an active member since 1987, of the American Dental Association and Vermont Dental Society – since 1994. Member of the American Association for Dental Practice Administration and American Association of Oral Systemic Health. She is the director of International Healthcare and board member of ROC international, a global relief organization. Dr. Spaniel continues to be actively involved in Global Relief and aid organizations. As a former member of the Burlington Rotary and Paul Harris Award recipient, Dr. Spaniel directed the dental service clinics with the Rotary supported organization, Hands to Honduras from 2006 to present. She continues to run annual independent dental service trips, providing oral surgery, dental hygiene services to rural areas of Honduras. She also works for the student-led group of Global Brigade, Inc in Ghana and Nicaragua. Aid work continues to be Dr. Spaniel’s passion locally and in many corners of the world.
