Who We Are History Since its inception in 1991, Summit Software has established itself as a leader in developing, marketing, and supporting embedded BASIC technologies. From 1991 through 1996, we focused on our BasicScript language engine and tools, which has been integrated into the products of more than 120 independent software vendors (ISVs). In June 1996, Summit Software entered into an agreement with Microsoft to sell Microsoft VBA and related value-added technology and services. Summit continues to sell and support Microsoft VBA. In April 2006, Summit Software entered into an agreement with Microsoft to sell Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Application (VSTA).
