About SummitSkills
SummitSkills ceased operations on 31 March 2017. Any work relating to skills strategy and development for the building services engineering, facilities management, property services, housing and cleaning sectors is now being handled by the relevant bodies in each industry. For further information on skills, qualifications or apprenticeships please contact one of the following organisations: Apprenticeship completion certificates - Instructus UK Electrotechnical industry: The Electrotechnical Skills Partnership (TESP) Heating & Ventilation industry: BESA - the Building Engineering Services Association Plumbing & Domestic Heating industry: The Plumbing & Heating Skills Partnership History: As the Standard Setting Organisation (SSO) for Building Services Engineering (BSE), SummitSkills acted as the voice of the industry through its core areas of work: developing and maintaining standards, maintaining apprenticeship frameworks and managing qualifications and skills. It was also involved in a number of other key activities such as certification and the low carbon agenda. Its strategic objectives were: 1) To be recognised by employers, governments and other key stakeholders as the independent Standard Setting Organisation for the BSE sector in the UK and the leading voice on skills. 2) To be the employer-led, coordinating organisation for the development and maintenance of qualifications and units. 3) To develop and maintain apprenticeship frameworks that meet the needs of BSE employers. 4) To ensure that National Occupational Standards for the BSE sector are maintained and enhanced in line with employer demands. 5) To provide a cost effective and efficient certification and Modern Apprenticeship issuing service for the BSE sector across the UK. 6) To act as the UK lead on skills in the low carbon agenda for the BSE sector.
