Sundog Theatre, founded in 2002, is a Staten Island-based performing arts organization that produces original, thought-provoking, and contemporary theatre as well as delivering 120 arts-in-education programs in over 50 schools and organizations, touring productions that are relevant for today’s young people, and providing acting classes for young people. When the sun shines through ice crystals in the sky, a sundog appears. Sundogs appear in pairs, bookending the sun like companions -- or dogs -- and reflecting its impression. Just as sundogs reflect the sun, it is an artist's job to hold a mirror to humanity. Through humor and drama, Sundog has presented its theatrical works, many of them Island-centric, for the past 22 years to show humankind through an exploratory light. Likewise, our in-school programs support our mission to create lasting, positive change in children’s lives through the arts.
