About Sunny Side South

Sunny Side South is a media lab exploring the intersections of climate change and inequality, with a particular focus on the Global South. We believe that the climate crisis is not experienced equally, its impacts are shaped by histories of injustice, structural inequities, and cultural contexts. Our work blends strategic communication design with creative media experimentation to produce campaigns and experiences that are emotionally resonant, globally relevant, and deeply grounded in climate justice. Our work moves across two interconnected arms: The first is our Media Lab, a creative research and production space where we experiment with editorial multimedia projects, build last-mile communication tools, and explore experiential formats that can reimagine how climate stories are told. The Media Lab serves as both a testing ground and a public-facing platform, through our Substack publication, collaborative projects, and flagship Climate Media Traineeship, we bring together practitioners from across the Global South to push the boundaries of climate communication. The second is Strategic Campaign Design, where we collaborate with climate-aligned brands, organisations, and movements to craft powerful narratives, visual identities, and media strategies. These campaigns are rooted in research, designed for real-world impact, and tailored to connect with diverse audiences across regions and cultures.
