About SUNY Binghamton Haïtian Student Association
The Haitian Student Association (HaSA) unites Haitian and non-Haitian students on campus and in the surrounding Binghamton area. We aim to educate and raise awareness about Haiti on campus and in the Binghamton community (@binghasa on Instagram). Haiti is located in the Caribbean and Latin America, so it is rich in culture. The country has a unique history, as it became the first Black republic in 1804 through a slave-led rebellion. Since gaining its independence, various factors have led to its current state. However, the land is still beautiful and a place to call home for many. The Haitian Student Association at Binghamton University strives to empower its members to embrace their different identities and have meaningful conversations in a safe space.
