About Super8 Motelinc
The original hotel was built in 1985 as one of the first Super 8’s in Canada. In the early 2000’s the owner then decided to become an independently operated hotel. The Schinkel family purchased the hotel and did a major renovation to convert it back into a Super 8 in 2013. Business was good and the team decided to add to the hotel in 2015. On Sept 11, 2015, a subcontractor working on upgrading the exterior was grinding some metal flashing on the exterior when a spark entered the attic through a small crack. In the mid-afternoon the attic space caught on fire and engulfed the hotel addition and a large part of the attic area. The smoke coupled with the water damage rendered the hotel a complete loss. Luckily there were no guests in the building at the time of the fire and there were no injuries. April 5th, 2017 was the opening date for the new Super8! The hotel has many building and guest amenities that we know you will enjoy!
