About Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care
Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care (SDAC) has been a registered Charity since 1986, providing advice and support to those concerned about drug and alcohol misuse and their friends and relatives . We offer four services: 24 Hour freephone Helpline, Telephone Counselling Service, Telephone Boot Camp and Outreach Programme. Our 24 hour freephone Helpline is a confidential service open to callers 365 days a year, offering help and support for anyone who is concerned about their own or someone else’s drug or alcohol use. We refer people directly into professional treatment services or connect callers to local services if they are outside the Surrey County Council area. In 2018, we started supporting people needing support and signposting for mental wellbeing. The Telephone Counselling Service (TCS) was launched in 2010 to support people with addiction issues who could not attend face to face appointments. TCS offers 12 weekly sessions for anyone concerned about their own use of drugs or alcohol or for those concerned about a loved one’s substance misuse. All TCS Counsellors are Registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Telephone Boot Camp provides a rapid therapeutic intervention for those wanting recovery from substance misuse. Boot Camp offers recovery support in your own environment and aims to help people to understand their addiction, develop healthy coping mechanisms and to remain in long term recovery with an abstinence based way of life. SDAC also runs an Outreach Programme for Surrey schools, colleges, youth groups and uniformed organisations to educate young people and adults about the effects of substances and advise them of the support services available. Young people are often deeply affected by the drug and alcohol habits within their own circle of family and friends. We also help adult community associations in Surrey with similar education and information.
