About SurvivorsUK
SurvivorsUK helps men and boys deal with the impact of rape, sexual abuse or assault whether they experienced it as a child or as an adult. Our aim is to help any man or boy to have the confidence to speak about what’s happened to them and to know that it’s ok to seek help. When they do, we want to ensure that they have access to the right support so they can deal with the devastating impact that rape and sexual violence can have on all aspects of life. An estimated 138,000 men between 16 and 59 experienced sexual assault in the year ending March 2017.[1] It isn’t easy for men to talk about what’s happened to them – only 4%[2] will speak about it. Of those who do, it takes an average of 26 years to do so[3]. SurvivorsUK was established over 30 years ago, primarily to deliver counselling and support services to men aged 18+. Today we have a national presence through our website and helpline service services, while continuing to provide direct help to adults, young men and boys over 13 across London. We have no set definition of who we include as a ‘man’ or ‘boy’ – we provide services to anyone who feels we are the most appropriate organisation for them.
