About Sussex Kintsugi
I’m a ceramics conservator and Kintsugi workshop facilitator, passionate about the stories held in broken things — and the beauty that can emerge through repair. With a background in conservation and decorative arts, I founded Sussex Kintsugi to offer a modern, accessible approach to the ancient Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi: the art of mending broken pottery with gold. In our busy, often overstimulated world, these workshops offer a much-needed space to slow down, reconnect, and create something meaningful. Through hands-on experience and gentle guidance, participants learn not just a craft, but a mindset — one that embraces imperfection, resilience, and quiet transformation. I run Modern Kintsugi workshops in Brighton and Reigate, welcoming individuals, groups, and organisations. They’re ideal for: • Team-building and staff wellbeing days • Birthday and milestone celebrations • Mindful creative experiences with friends or family • Or simply a way to take time out and try something new All materials are provided — including the intentionally broken bowls — and no prior experience is needed. Alongside my creative workshops, I continue to work as a freelance ceramics conservator, with a deep respect for cultural heritage and the emotional value objects hold for people.
