Sustonica is the first sustainability badge & recognition specifically for short-term rentals. Focused on four key areas: energy conservation, promoting inclusiveness, waste reduction, and water conservation. Our mission is to establish the most widely recognised sustainability standard for vacation rentals, serving as a catalyst to: reduce emissions of 10 million global vacation rentals influence 450 million annual guests to reduce their own household consumption STEP 1: Register the Property To register a property for verification with Sustonica, a badge must be paid for in advance. If the property fails verification, the fee is non-refundable, highlighting the importance of studying the standard carefully and taking the free online test before beginning the registration process. STEP 2: Provide Proof It takes 15 minutes for the Owner, Manager, Welcomer, Cleaner, or Maintenance person, etc. to complete our online form with photos and videos while they are inside the property. The form is geolocalized to ensure accuracy. STEP 3: Sustonica Verification Our external auditor verifies the documentation provided and gives Sustonica the go-ahead to issue the badge. Vacation rentals need at least 20% of the total points to receive the badge and commit to increase this percentage every year in order to renew. The badges issued are securely stored on the Ethereum blockchain, ensuring authenticity, and have a validity period of one year.
