About SWIM - Solutions for Water Integrity and Management

SWIM is an independent think tank, and policy consultant on integrated water resource management. Our services are focused on research, dialogue and concertation to prevent or resolve/transform the conflicts around water resources. We consider it necessary to persuade decision-makers to integrate the social dimension in all kinds of projects in order to prevent or manage conflicts around water resources. Water challenges are characterized by complex interdependencies. We recognize that effective solutions are beyond the scope of a single discipline or area of research, so we integrate knowledge and approaches from many disciplines, involve actors that have a stake in the process and identify feasible real-world solutions. To prevent conflicts in both, interests and water resources, appropriate stakeholder mapping, as well as engagement and empowerment of those, is needed. We believe that water management is conflict management.
