About Symbols Multisensory Learning Centers
Symbols offers 1-to-1, individualized, multisensory tutoring in reading, writing, spelling, comprehension and math. Our tutoring is based on the Orton-Gillingham approach. The Orton-Gillingham approach was originally designed to help young students with learning differences such as dyslexia to read and write. This multisensory, sequential, phonics-based approach has truly stood the test of time, and has been effectively helping students for over 70 years. Although originally intended to help with reading and writing, the principles of the Orton-Gillingham approach (primarily its multisensory and sequential delivery method) have been successfully adopted to teach math. While Symbols provides effective and fun remedial help for young learners with diagnosed learning differences such as dyslexia and written output disorder, because the Orton-Gillingham approach is ultimately a highly-effective way of teaching, our tutoring is appropriate for most young students who may be struggling with reading, writing or math, or even those who could benefit from some enrichment.
