About SynBio Canada

Synthetic biology (synbio) is a relatively new branch of science which broadly involves engineering biological systems. Its purpose is to harness the untapped power of these systems thereby enabling the development of technologies which currently exist at the edge of science fiction including advanced manufacturing processes, clean energy production, and next-generation medicines and diagnostics. SynBio Canada is working to strengthen the synthetic biology community in Canada. We primarily do this by distributing the latest research, hosting profiles for researchers and companies, and providing a networking space for relevant stakeholders. By performing such tasks, we intend to foster new collaborations and liaise with existing and interested parties, ultimately promoting the growth of Canada's synthetic biology technological capacities and furthering its integration with international organizations.
